Digital Terrain Models (DTMs) | Digital terrain models (DTMs) are topographic models of the "bare earth" that enable users to infer terrain characteristics that may be hidden in the digital surface model (DSM). A DTM has vegetation, buildings, and other cultural features digitally removed, leaving just the underlying terrain. | | The DTM (coupled with surface analysis tools) supports applications such as the development of topographic maps. It is also a valuable component in analyses involving various terrain characteristics such as profile, cross-section, line-of-sight, aspect, and slope. The DTM also supports Intermap's flood modeling, consumer electronics, and advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) applications.
DTMs are derived based on measurements of the bare ground from the original IFSAR data, and undergo a process of manual editing and quality control. The data is made available for immediate purchase through the NEXTMap TerrainOnDemand data store, directly through our sales team, or through partners around the globe.
