Monday, December 1, 2003 Denver, CO (December 1, 2003) Intermap Technologies, Inc. and Global Mapper Software LLC today announced they have formed a strategic alliance to further develop and market the software tool 'Global Mapper'. The agreement allows Intermap to distribute the Global Mapper software at no charge to customers who buy data from Intermap's archive or through its custom projects program.
"We wanted to provide our customers with tools that will allow them to immediately use our elevation and image data" said Eric DesRoche Intermap Vice President Value Added Services. "We will bundle 'Global Mapper by Intermap' with all datasets we deliver. Customers will have immediate access to a wide range of applications using elevation data - profiling, line-of-sight, viewshed, plus several other applications available within the software. The agreement allows Intermap to provide solutions, not just data to our customers."
"The agreement calls for Intermap to obtain access to the source code of Global Mapper for distribution with their elevation and image products and to allow for the future development of visualization and GIS tools" said Mike Childs President of Global Mapper Software LLC. "We are already in discussion about adding 3D visualization to the package, thus increasing value to Intermap customers."
"The Global Mapper software tools will be a great benefit to our NEXTMap customers" continued DesRoche. "We will immediately include the software with all our NEXTMap Britain data. We plan on having a more advanced version available early 2004 for distribution with our recently announced NEXTMap USA program."
