NEXTMap Britain Goes Promap

News Releases

30 Jun, 2005 Intermap Technologies, Inc. has signed a distribution agreement with Promap, part of the Landmark Information Group. The agreement will make Intermap's groundbreaking NEXTMap Britain elevation data available directly through the widely used Promap Web mapping service. NEXTMap Britain provides the most accurate nationwide height and contour data, which maps the rise and fall of the land across the whole of England, Wales and Scotland; the data has a wide variety of applications from flood mapping and 3D visualisation to pipeline routeing and mobile wireless network planning.

Promap.co.uk is a pay-as-you-go Web service that is fast, flexible and convenient. This service is the chosen online source of current small and large scale digital mapping and aerial photography for over 16,000 registered users, including property professionals, environmental consultants and 50 percent of British architects. Landmark, in addition to its Promap service, is the number one source of environmental reports and searches, plus essential current and historical planning information for both the commercial and residential property sectors.

"Promap is the UK's leading Web mapping portal for property and environmental consultants, and we are thrilled that NEXTMap Britain will be made available to the thousands of Promap users," said Eric DesRoche, vice president of Intermap's NEXTMap program. "Already the choice of many public sector organisations, through Promap, NEXTMap Britain becomes available to the commercial property sector as part of the most comprehensive range of UK geographic information datasets available via the Web," continued DesRoche.

Notes for editors
NEXTMap is the name given to Intermap's national program for mapping the terrain of whole countries in unprecedented detail. This program, which employs Intermap's radar (IFSAR) mapping technology to capture elevation and imagery data, is the industry benchmark for accuracy and affordability. The data is obtainable for areas as small as 2 sq km and available at different resolutions and price points for use with a wide variety of computer software, including CAD, GIS and modelling. The data can be used in a wide range of commercial applications, including engineering, transportation, navigation, flood mapping, environmental assessment and management, mobile network planning, simulation and 3D visualisation. Major NEXTMap Britain data users include the Environment Agency, Norwich Union, the National Assembly for Wales, the Scottish Executive and the British Geological Survey. NEXTMap Britain is also being supplied to UK Local Authorities, National Parks and Public Services under the MSA (Mapping Services Agreement).
