INTERMAP ANNOUNCES JOINT DEVELOPMENT AGREEMENT WITH HARMAN/BECKER FOR 3D ROAD NAVIGATION AND SAFETY

News Releases

12 Oct, 2005 Denver, Colorado (October 12, 2005): Intermap Technologies Corp. (IMP:TSX) announced today that its wholly-owned subsidiary Intermap Technologies GmbH has signed a joint development agreement with HARMAN/BECKER Automotive Systems GmbH. The agreement combines Harman/Becker's innovative automotive systems knowledge with Intermap's highly accurate geospatial databases. This teaming arrangement will provide the two companies with the resources to develop advanced 3D car navigation applications and to meet market demand for more intuitive navigation systems and advanced vehicle safety systems.

"Out of this cooperation we expect a significant drive for the display of the digital map as well as a substantial step towards advanced driving assistance systems. The premium segment of future navigation systems will contain both high-precision 3D terrain models and other advanced functionality where the navigation will deliver information about the route ahead to other subsystems within the vehicle. For this purpose, high-precise digital maps are essential," commented Dr. Erich A. Geiger, executive chairman of Harman/Becker.

"This is an important cooperative agreement for both Intermap and Harman/Becker," commented Dr. Manfred Krischke, managing director of Intermap Technologies GmbH. "Improving advanced car navigation and related applications continues to be a worldwide focus. We believe that moving from today's coarse 2D data to accurate 3D information will provide the automotive industry with more accurate, visually aesthetic, and effective automotive applications."
