Intermap Announces Boeing Contract for Void Fill Processing of Shuttle Radar Terrain Mapping Data

News Releases

27 Feb, 2007

DENVER, COLORADO--(CCNMatthews - Feb. 27, 2006) - Intermap Technologies Corp. (TSX:IMP) announced today that its subsidiary Intermap Federal Services Inc. has received a follow-on contract from The Boeing Company to support the continued processing of elevation data from the NASA Shuttle Radar Topography Mission (SRTM). Intermap Federal Services is a subcontractor to Boeing for this effort. The contract value to Intermap is approximately US$1.5 million with the period of performance extending through November 2006. This contract, which is the fifth since 2002, brings the amount awarded to Intermap for SRTM production to US$15.3 million.

The National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) sponsored this new task order for SRTM processing, which will provide NGA with cost-effective, high-capacity contractor capabilities to generate void filled, compliant SRTM DTED2® cells.

In February 2000, NASA's Space Shuttle Endeavour flew the SRTM mission, collecting digital elevation data of the majority of the planet. It was the first near-worldwide radar data acquisition that generated three-dimensional digital elevation model maps from 60 degrees north latitude to 56 degrees south latitude.

"As a result of the high quality of our work on the SRTM data, Intermap continues to receive contract extensions for this important project," stated Michael Bullock, Intermap Federal Services president and CEO. "We developed new editing and processing procedures for this enormous undertaking that have resulted in higher efficiency and higher quality data. Our NEXTMap business has also benefited by porting over these procedures to our NEXTMap work, resulting in a decrease in our overall costs on the NEXTMap databases."
