Intermap Technologies and FS Dreamscapes add Germany to the NEXTMap ProMesh Product Line for Microsoft Flight Simulator X and ESP Platforms

24 Nov, 2008

DENVER, HONOLULU and MUNICH: Intermap Technologies and FS Dreamscapes today announced the addition of NEXTMap® ProMesh™ Germany to their series of terrain mesh and photoscenery downloads for Microsoft® Flight Simulator X and ESP. Germany joins an extensive NEXTMap ProMesh product suite that, to date, includes California, Florida, Hawaii, Mississippi, Oklahoma, and the United Kingdom.

The FS Dreamscapes terrain is sixteen times the resolution and 256 times more detailed than the default FSX terrain mesh for Europe. This is the most significant terrain upgrade for Western Europe since the Shuttle Radar Topography Mission (SRTM) data was introduced in Flight Simulator 2000.

“We're extremely excited to add Germany to our product line,” says Dean Montford, president and CEO of FS Dreamscapes. “For the first time in flight simulator history, 1-meter vertically accurate data for Germany is now available, making flying virtual flight rules over the country extremely realistic. This is a massive increase in terrain detail compared to the current default SRTM-derived 15-meter vertical accurate data. Users can now experience the thrill of flying over the majestic peaks and through the breath-taking valleys in the Bavarian Alps and Zugspitze, or try their hand at a low-level flight path over the city of Berlin — the riverbanks rendered in high detail as you zoom through the course at the air races. This is undeniably simulated flying at its best."

NEXTMap ProMesh Germany allows pilots to fly near real-world missions through pre-visualizing the surrounding terrain safely within the Microsoft Flight Simulator X and ESP applications. As Intermap finalizes the digital mapping coverage across Western Europe in early 2009, we'll continue to enable FS Dreamscapes to expand the coverage of their leading flight simulator dataset. Ultimately, users will be able to experience the exhilaration of flying over the continent's most famous and historic landmarks,” stated Kevin Thomas, vice president of marketing for Intermap Technologies.

NEXTMap ProMesh  add-ons for Flight Simulator and Microsoft® ESP allow consumers, pilot trainees, researchers, and scientists to maneuver real time within a 3D visualization simulation platform. The use of Intermap's NEXTMap® USA and NEXTMap® Europe uniformly derived digital terrain models within the Flight Simulator and ESP platforms are paving the way for future real time visual simulation technologies with practical real world applications.
