Premium AccuTerra map content provides millions of iPhone users with detailed terrain, trails, land usage, and points of interest to enhance their outdoor recreational experience

DENVER: Intermap Technologies today announced the availability of two initial AccuTerra map applications, Yosemite National Park Lite and the San Francisco Bay Area, on the App Store. The apps make AccuTerra available to iPhone users looking for an advanced outdoor experience in the United States. AccuTerra apps contain on-device map content for national parks, monuments, and forests, as well as state parks and many other recreation areas for the contiguous U.S. and Hawaii.

“Our iPhone applications continue to extend the AccuTerra product line and begins to leverage our unique NEXTMap terrain data,” commented Garth Lawrence, senior vice president of strategic businesses for Intermap. “We're utilizing NEXTMap data in areas of the country where we currently have coverage and will eventually upgrade the remainder of today's AccuTerra nationwide coverage with NEXTMap data. Thus, our NEXTMap data will ultimately power mobile applications with the best nationwide mapping coverage available in the U.S. and Western Europe — a feat that cannot be replicated by any other company.”

According to Michael E. Bullock, vice president, Intermap consumer electronics, “Our AccuTerra Apps are Intermap's first products for the iPhone that enable users to plan, enjoy, and share their outdoor adventures with others — in short, we're ‘making the great outdoors greater."

The iPhone and AccuTerra map content allow hikers to view their topographic surroundings with a degree of detail previously unavailable, while accurately tracking their progress. AccuTerra maps reside on the iPhone so people can use them anywhere — even where there is no cellular coverage. The entire hike can then be tracked, saved, and shared immediately via email. The applications are also integrated with Google Earth™ to enable shared user experiences and the ability to build online communities. In addition, AccuTerra's unique ‘Walking Tour' function lets the user's replay the entire adventure for friends and family right from their iPhone.

The AccuTerra applications have a rich set of features designed for outdoor recreation and come bundled with detailed AccuTerra maps packaged by geographic region. AccuTerra map content contains highly detailed color topographic data, contour lines, hydrography, land-use boundaries, major points of interest, and roads and trails. AccuTerra applications provide continuous coverage of large regions via highly detailed maps — in most cases entire states — while providing the highest level of detail and accuracy available for the iPhone.

Later this summer, Intermap will be launching their new award-winning version of AccuTerra for Apple's iPhone 3.0 OS. The beta version of this new application was named winner of the Apple Design Award at WWDC09 in San Francisco, California in the Best iPhone OS 3.0 Beta App category. AccuTerra was recognized for its design innovation and superior quality, as well as the application's high standards of user interaction and functionality that offers added value to consumers.

The AccuTerra applications are available from Apple's App Store on iPhone or at www.itunes.com/appstore/
