Intermap’s 3D Terrain Information Used for State Flood Mapping, Emergency Response and Infrastructure Planning
DENVER -- Intermap (TSX:IMP.TO), a leading provider of location-based information (LBI) solutions, reports that its NEXTMap data is being utilized for several critical statewide geospatial applications. This follows South Dakota’s licensing of Intermap’s NEXTMap South Dakota database during the third quarter of this year.
“It’s critical that states have access to the most geospatially accurate 3D terrain data available for strategic planning purposes,” said Todd Oseth, Intermap president and CEO. “With Intermap’s NEXTMap database, we’re able to offer state-wide licenses for the most consistently accurate 3D imagery and elevation data to every state in the nation at extremely affordable prices.”
The data is being used by a number of South Dakota state government entities for a variety of geospatial related applications including flood mapping, emergency response, environmental risk analysis and infrastructure planning. Intermap has set the standard for national mapping with accuracies verified to less than 1 meter - a major differentiator from other mapping products.
Intermap’s NEXTMap elevation data enhances flood hazard evaluation with instant access to a database that is being updated regularly with accurate elevation data. National, federal, regional and local governments throughout the world use Intermap’s NEXTMap digital elevation models for a wide variety of purposes, including flood modeling, engineering, visualization, environmental planning and GIS support.
