Intermap® Announces US$368,000 NEXTMap® Solution Sale

News Releases

27 Jul, 2012 DENVER , July 27, 2012 - Intermap (IMP.TO), a leading provider of location-based information (LBI) solutions created from its uniform, high-resolution 3D digital models of the earth's surface called NEXTMap, today announced that it has received a $368,000 contract for the creation of a new elevation data set for the Malaysian Government. The imagery and elevation data will be used for mapping and infrastructure development in Malaysia.

This new elevation data set is derived from Intermap's industry leading and proprietary data fusion process. The fused data combines the temporal immediacy of a new satellite collection with the precise accuracy of Intermap's NEXTMap Malaysia data archive. Intermap's data fusion process integrates stereo pairs of radar satellite imagery with existing NEXTMap data via the company's ISO-certified editing processes.

"Intermap's data fusion capabilities are becoming more and more valuable in the marketplace as customers embrace the power of Intermap's total solutions capabilities," said Todd Oseth, Intermap's president and CEO. "With Intermap's data fusion process, our customers have the capability of integrating disparate data into a unified and meaningful solution that will help them derive the data-driven answers that they require. Our complete solutions approach allows our customers to move beyond single source raw data and provide front end and back end solutions to their geospatial needs. We call this total solutions approach 3DBI, or 3D business intelligence."

Due to persistent cloud cover, traditional satellite and airborne optical imagery is not available for Malaysia. Intermap has consistently provided a solution by using its IFSAR radar mapping in Malaysia which is not affected by cloud cover. As a result, Intermap's NEXTMap Malaysia program is used by all branches of the Malaysian Government. The new fused data will be provided through Intermap's Malaysian channel partner, DES Mapping Solutions SdnBhd and MK Surveys.
